Gaëtan Royer, President of CityState, was involved in a large number of award-winning urban developments and community projects.
Working in a number of Canadian communities over the past 35 years, Gaëtan has left behind him a long trail of highly popular recreation centres, parks, sportsfields, ice arenas and even an artificial lake. He also helped equip Bagotville, Cold Lake, Surrey, Whitehorse and Port Moody with functional fire halls, police buildings, maintenance facilities, airfields, roads and utilities.
A published author of research papers and Time for Cites, a university textbook, Gaetan contributes his urban planning and design expertise as a frequent commentator on CBC.

Zoe Royer, Owner and Developer
A dedicated volunteer, Zoë Royer participated on the board of Access Youth Services, served homeless persons on night shifts at Tri-Cities shelters and hosted fund raising events for the Port Moody Arts Centre and Crossroads Hospice. She ran highly successful fundraising campaigns for Golden Spike Days, special events and school projects.
First elected in 2011, Zoë will continue to protect our beautiful natural environment. “I’m deeply interested in growing our local economy so that small, independent businesses and artists can thrive and residents can work, shop and play right here in a walkable and vibrant Port Moody.”
During Official Community Plan deliberations, Councillor Royer pushed for more employment space to promote well-paying jobs, stimulate our daytime economy and help reduce traffic congestion. She advocated for affordable seniors housing, expansion of Rocky Point Park, revitalized Inlet Sports Field, enhanced library space and better amenities in West Port Moody.
Royer is Founding Chair of KaBoom! Port Moody Art Explosion. She donated significantly to the Mossom Creek Hatchery Rebuild project. She served as Library Board Trustee, Chair Land Use, Joint Family Court and Youth Justice, Chair Arts & Culture and Chair Heritage Commission.

Fred Soofi, Co-Owner
Among Soofi's causes are affordable housing, heritage preservation and environmental protection.
After immigrating to Canada from Iran in 1974 at the age of 22, Soofi worked to pay for his university education, rose up in the ranks in the restaurant industry and opened an organic flour mill, as well as a restaurant in Coquitlam and at Simon Fraser University.
The owner of Pasta Polo in Coquitlam, he has supported several groups over the years, including Amnesty International, has run for Coquitlam council and served as a director of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce, Coquitlam Foundation, PoCoMo Youth Society, Laurel Foundation, Coquitlam Multicultural Advisory Committee and co-founder of the Tri-Cities Iranian Cultural Society.
He was also profiled in a book commemorating Canada's 125th birthday and immigrant heritage.

Alvin Bartel, Architect AIBC, CHPA
Alvin graduated with distinction from the Technical University of Nova Scotia’s Architecture program in 1994 with a Master degree, winning the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s Medal for outstanding thesis work on a First Nations Mi’kmaq language broadcasting facility utilizing bentwood technology. He was presented with the TUNS School of Architecture Graduate Scholarship and among other awards was co-winner of the ECOFYS International Architectural Ideas Competition. Aside from other involvements in the local community and his home church, Alvin presently serves as president of the Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association. He is also a LEED accredited professional.
Involved in the construction industry for the past 40 years, Alvin began his career in architecture in the early 1990’s working on a variety of residential, commercial and institutional projects in and around the Lower Mainland and has gained extensive experience working as project architect on a number of public schools, residential and health care projects.
